Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon reminds people interested in running for taxing district leadership roles in the May 19 election that the filing deadline is 5PM March 20.
“Trustee, Board member or Commissioner seats are open at numerous districts,” said Brannon. “Seats can be for 2, 4 or 6 year terms”, he continued. (The attached Notice of Filing Deadline gives more details; this will appear in the Press’s legal notices March 12.)

Potential candidates must contact taxing districts for residency requirements. Filing paperwork needs to be started and finalized at each taxing district office. County Elections’ staff will verify voter signatures on the petition of candidacy. Taxing districts with openings for the May 19 election (and their phone numbers) are:
“People interested in running for these offices need to take action by March 20 to ensure their names appear on the May 19 ballot,” Brannon emphasized.
