Absentee & Early Voting Options
Two voting deadlines are coming up, according to Kootenai County Clerk Jim Brannon. “Voters who want an absentee ballot mailed to them need to submit their request by 5PM Friday, Oct 28”, Brannon said.
Voters can click http://www.kcgov.us/elections/ to download the Absentee Ballot Request form. The form can be returned to the Elections office by mail, fax, or email. Kootenai County is paying the postage for mailed absentee ballots.
“Voters who want to vote early in person can do so at the County Elections office now through Friday, Nov 4,” Brannon continued. The Elections office is at 1808 N. Third Street in Coeur d’Alene, and is open weekdays from 8AM to 5PM.
Registered voters need to bring a photo ID with them to cast their ballot. Those who have moved or have had a name change must re-register. They must also bring a photo ID and proof of residency, such as a utility bill or auto insurance certificate with the voter’s current residence address listed, dated at least 30 days prior to their voting date. These same requirements also apply to new registrants.
Voters with questions about their proof of residency documents should call the Elections office at 446-1030.
