Celebrating Art and Culture
This week's Democratic Club features Ali Shute,graphic designer and executive director of the Coeur d'Alene Arts and Culture Alliance. According to their website, "The Coeur d'Alene Arts & Culture Alliance is dedicated to promoting and establishing the Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Written Arts, Cultural Arts, and Education for the Arts in the Greater Coeur d'Alene Area, while providing valuable networking opportunities for those involved and seeking to be involved in the arts."
Please join us this Friday, July 29 at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill, at 407 E Sherman Ave in Coeur d'Alene at 12:00 PM. Club meetings take place each Friday.
Ali Shute is a local graphic designer based in Post Falls, ID and has lived in North Idaho since 1979. Originally from Virginia, Ali grew up with a very artistic mother who inspired a deep love of art and the creative process. While attending NIC obtaining her commercial art degree, she was very involved in the art community in Coeur d’Alene, and founded the children’s art program, Art on the Edge in 1995. She received the Mayor’s Award in the Arts in 2003 for her work with the at-risk youth of Art on the Edge.
Ali is currently serving as the Vice Chair for the CDA Arts & Culture Alliance, is an active member of the Post Falls Kiwanis Club, and is the NIC Alumni Association immediate Past President.
Ali Shute has operated the professional graphic design studio sixtwofour designs since 1994. She worked as a graphic designer at North Idaho College for eight years and has been doing freelance design work from her studio full time for the past 10 years.
Ali lives in Post Falls with husband Kevin, and has three grown children who, in a true mother’s spirit, she thinks are exceptional.
