A Visit with NIC's New President
This week the Democratic Club welcomes Dr. Rick MacLennan. Dr MacLennan is the new president of North Idaho College. He assumed leadership of NIC on July 1, 2016.
Rick envisions NIC as a community partner. He sees the college as serving two roles: meeting the academic and programmatic needs of students while aligning with and delivering on the workforce demands of local business and industry.
Please join us this Friday, February 17 at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill, at 407 E Sherman Ave in Coeur d'Alene at 12:00 PM. Club meetings take place each Friday.
Prior to Dr. MacLennan's return to the Northwest, he served six year's as president of Garrett College, one of Maryland's sixteen comprehensive community colleges. He began his higher education career as a returning adult student at Portland State University, where he worked as a veterans' work study in the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs while completing his undergraduate degree. After graduating from PSU and completing the College Student Services Administration master degree program at Oregon State University in 1985, Dr. MacLennan served in various student affairs leadership roles in Louisiana and Washington State - most recently as the vice president for student services from 1998 to 2010 at Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington.
