Civil Rights vs Human Rights
This month's Progressive Diners session will feature a discussion with James McDay on the distinctions of civil and human rights. According to legal resourcs hg.com, "Human rights arise simply by being a human being. Civil rights, on the other hand, arise only by virtue of a legal grant of that right, such as the rights imparted on American citizens by the U.S. Constitution." James will expand upon the legal definition and discuss the political implications and application of these distinctions.
The meeting takes place at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, July 6. The location is Seasons of Coeur d'Alene on the corner of 2nd Street and E. Lakeside Avenue.
Space is limited and available on a first come first-serve basis based on the time of your reservation. Please email Steve Moss with your RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a place at the table. Please arrive by 6:15 p.m. to check in, order dinner and get settled.
