Community Organizing Workshops
Presented by the Peace and Justice Action League
Organizing is how everyday people accomplish extraordinary things—how everyday people can make their own decisions, take action together for shared goals, build their collective power, and change the balance of power. In this interactive workshop series with PJALS Director Liz Moore, we’ll explore and practice using the theories and methodologies of great organizers.
When: Part 1: Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 6 PM to 8 PM
Part 2: Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 6 PM to 8 PM
Location: Both parts will be offered in the Community Building lobby, 35 W. Main Ave, Spokane.
Registration: Please plan to attend both parts. Workshops are free for current PJALS members. Non-members are very welcome to attend with a $20 registration fee, which includes both workshops, materials, and light refreshments. Student registration fee: $10. To reserve your spot, contact Vickie Woodley at vwoodley@pjals.net or 838-7870.

[Banquet Agenda]

Start planning today to join the Kootenai County Democrats at the
Coeur d’Alene Casino on Saturday, April 10, 2010 for the Democracy Dinner; our annual celebration in honor of all Democrats in Kootenai County and in recognition of our shared beliefs and aspirations. The event includes a special guest reception, a cocktail social, and a dinner featuring a seafood and prime rib buffet.
Our guest speaker for this exclusive event will be, United Steel Workers International President, Leo W. Gerard. In addition to his leadership of the USW, Mr. Gerard is also the driving force behind a network of activists who are creating conceptual, financial, and educational tools for capital strategies that will inject the welfare of workers into investment priorities. Some of you may be familiar with Mr. Gerard's interview on Bill Moyer's Journal. If so, you know that he is a very engaging speaker and not to be missed. [Watch the interview here].
